Traditional Crafts Industry Promotion Association 50th Anniversary Exhibition

The Traditional Crafts Industry Promotion Association, a general incorporated foundation that operates the Traditional Crafts Aoyama Square, will celebrate its 50th anniversary on June 30th. To express our gratitude to everyone who has supported Aoyama Square over the years, we have prepared a special event. We hope you will enjoy these special two weeks and that you will continue to support Aoyama Square for many years to come.

We offer a selection of the finest traditional crafts from production areas across Japan at special prices.
Take this opportunity to get your hands on your favorite item.

Special Project ②
"Tanabata" Production Performance
June 20 (Fri)- July 3 (Thu)

 

With the cooperation of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana, we will be exhibiting a work inspired by the Tanabata festival in front of Aoyama Square.
You can watch the production performance from 12:00 on (Fri), the 20th.
Additionally, during the exhibition period, you can attach a strip of paper on which you have written your wish to the artwork.

*As a general rule, the tanzaku (paper strips for writing wishes) are intended for children.
*On display until July 3rd (Thu). The wish strips will be dedicated to Toyokawa Inari Tokyo Branch Temple after Tanabata.

Special Feature ③
Children's Mini Ikebana Workshop
June 21 (Sat)

We will be holding a "Children's Mini Ikebana Workshop."
A Sogetsu-ryu master will be giving the lecture, so even those with no experience can participate with confidence.
On the day of the event, Sogetsu's mascot character, "Ikeru-chan," will also be there to show her support!

 

Content

Choose a vase and flowers, and then arrange them freely while receiving advice from the instructor.
You can take home the finished piece, including the pottery, after the experience.

Rakugo performer Hayashiya Taihei's talk show
Scheduled for 5 PM on Saturday, (Sat)

We will be hosting a talk show featuring Rakugo storyteller Hayashiya Taihei, a familiar face from the comedy segment of Nippon Television's "Shoten" program.
Taihei, who studied art at university, currently paints ceramics in HASAMI Yaki (Porcelain), Nagasaki Prefecture. He has held solo exhibitions in department stores in Tokyo and other venues, each time to great acclaim. Taihei, who also serves as a "Hometown Ambassador" for Hasami Town, will talk to us about what inspired him to start painting ceramics and his thoughts on creating his works.

The venue will also feature and sell numerous works by Taihei and other artists.

In response to requests from customers who wanted to see the items sooner, we began exhibiting and selling them on the 25th.
*Please note that Taihei's works are available in limited quantities and may sell out quickly.
