This is an experience where you can create a pure white porcelain vessel using an electric potter's wheel. Using the traditional Arita ware "Uchiyama technique," you will finish the piece thinly yet sturdily with a wooden spatula. Yozaemon Yashiki, an Arita ware potter who has been selected as a "Contemporary Master Craftsman," will provide one-on-one instruction, so even beginners can participate with confidence. The finished pottery will be taken back to a kiln in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, where it will be trimmed, glazed, fired, and finished. It will be delivered to you in 2-3 months. (Estimated delivery date: late October) |
